Getting Started It's incredibly easy to join Newark Canoe Club. Simply fill in one of our membership forms. You can either bring them to one of our lake sessions on a Sunday afternoon, or send it along with your payment to the address indicated on the 2nd page of the form. We have shamefully neglected students in full time education in the past so we have rectified this oversight and created a new membership category - £15 for the year. What are you waiting for?
Membership Fees If you are not a BCU member the club has to pay an additional affiliation fee. Therefore BCU members will be given a discount to the value of the affiliation fee - £2 per adult and £1 per junior/student. There is now a single Junior rate and the social membership requirement has been removed. New parental responsibilities will be set out in the near future and will be in accordance with BCU recommendations and child protection legislation. 2009 Kit Hire - Lake Sessions: Members £2, Non-members £4

Club Kit usage at Thurlby Lake - members and non-members. Thurlby Lake - Members £2 per session Thurlby Lake - Non-members £4 per session Under normal circumstances, non-members are limited to 3 "taster" sessions and are then expected to join the club. The committee believes that providing all the equipment (boat, paddle, buoyancy aid, etc), a superb venue and supervision for £4 represents incredible value for money and that after 3 sessions people should be able to decide whether the Newark Canoe Club is for them.
Club Kit Usage Away from Thurlby Lake - members only. If there is a club organised paddle away from the lake, normally on "flat water", club kit may be used. The charge is £2 for juniors and £4 for adults. All kit must be returned to the club immediately after the event. It is not acceptable for kit to be off-site during the next Thurlby Lake session as we need all our boats. Use of club kit on water above Grade 2 (white water) is discouraged and is at the discretion of a club coach. If kit is used in this way then the club expects a £10 donation to club funds per day. Working coaches on club organised events are permitted to use club kit if they wish. Damaged equipment must be replaced. Paddlers above 2* are expected to have their own kit. The club is always happy to advise on any purchase. Using eBay and various kayak notice boards available on the Internet is a great way to source bargain kit which, if looked after, can be sold on at a later date.
